I thought this was a nice wintery scene. You can not really tell in the picture but the water was soo blue. It was really pretty. We took this picture on our way back from ice skating.
The girls and Jake got the chance to go and ice skate on a pond this weekend. We went with Kelli and her son Lane and her nephew Riley and then Deann and her son Jory joined us. Along with another nephew Big Jake. Big Jake is 12 but he is probably 5'7" or 5'8", he is a big boy. He was very nice though giving all the kids rides in the sled. He ended up bring Jayla back over to the shore in the sled since Jayla was having a hard time staying up on her feet. She was the first one to say "I'm cold, I've had enough!"
Jake was
the next one to decide he had had enough. He was making all of us old people groan in pain when we would watch him try and mimick the older boys. The older boys were showing off and trying to do different jumps and different sliding tricks. Jake, trying to be one of the big boys, would jump up and then land on his knees! When you would tell him to quit, that he was going to hurt himself he would just tell you that he was fine and then jump up again. What boys wont do to try and out do each other...even at this young age.
Kendra was actually pretty good at ice skating. It does help that she has spent quite a bit of time on regular roller skates. After watching a movie about a young girl who becomes an ice skater she had decided that she wanted to ice skate for a living. Well I can safely say that that dream has been destroyed. Once she had the laces tied on her skates and discovered that she could no longer feel her toes she decided she did not want to do that. For a short time while she was skating she thought she may want to do it again but then when she started to feel her feet again (they had gotten so cold that they started to hurt) she decided right then and there that she would stick with her original plan and stay far away from ice skating for hours at a time. All-n-all though she had a great time, they all did. The adults decided that the next time we go ice skating we are going to bring lawn chairs, blankets and some J
ack Daniels! Our noses were very cold by the time we headed home.
The picture on the left shows the young man Jory, he is Kendra's current Love interest. Daddy takes great pleasure in
making fun of her at every turn :o)
