Brad's Free!!

Thanks to these last three trucks Brad is now a free man, or at least he feels that way. These trucks took the last of our fat cattle and now all Brad has to do is worry about his cows.

We have had a busy last few weeks around here. Brad and Jeff (one of the brothers) started doing some farming two weeks ago and now I have even gotten into the game. The brothers decided to plow up a little trap with grass in it and plant it to sorghum (a type of feed for my family). Brad told Jeff that where he comes from a man could get shot doing that sort of thing. Well after Brad plowed it I went in and disced it. I am getting quite a few tractor hours under my belt. One machine that I am not allowed to touch however, is Jake and Brad's new toy. I swear everything Brad tells these brother's that he wants, he gets! His latest is a John Deere skid loader that Jake thinks is his. After we got it it set in the shop for a few days. Brad finally went out and moved a feedbunk just so Jake would stop asking him every day "can we drive the skid loader today?". Jake thinks it hung the moon and I have to say that Brad does pretty well driving with him on his lap.

I had to take this picture, it shows just how tall our grass really is. True, this is a pasture that we have not been to yet but still you have to agree that this grass is impressive. We were up setting a corner post with the tractor and Brad experienced something he never has before, his post hole digger bent under the weight of the soil. He may try and blame the tractor operator (me) but I refuse to take the fall :o) We got the post set but we had to settle for the one instead of the four. Thankfully Brad had a guy coming to load hay so we didn't have time to hand dig all those holes...can't tell you how upset that made me ;o)

We have been working hard on cake decorating for 4H. I think this flower cake is a good one for Kendra to do for her first time. Both Kendra and Jayla have a hard time tracing the outline of the flower but they both did very well decorating around the base of the cake.

When all was said and done we did not do too bad for our first cake decorating experience...I wouldn't say we did really good though either :o) But we have learned a lot so our next ones will be even better!

I had to add this picture...don't they look like little hillbillies? We took this picture the day after Kendra got back from camp, which she loved by the way.

Hope everyone is good. We will be heading back to CO in a few weeks. Brad is flying out to Idaho to see his friend Frank for a few days and we are going to visit some friends and family while we are there.
Love to all!
