"All around the Mulberry Tree...."

When you first look at this picture you may find yourself a little worried...is that a bruise??? No that is my daughter after eating some freshly picked mulberries. They still had the stem on them so you needed to bite down and then pull off the stem. Jayla ended up squishing more then she actually ate! But she really liked them, as far as the other two were concerned they decided they did not mind them but they were not their favorite fruit :o)

I hope everyone enjoyed their 4th and had a good weekend. We went over to the neighbors to watch fireworks. They were celebrating their parent's 50th wedding anniversary and since I had put together a PowerPoint for them we were invited to ALL the festivities. They started out with a dinner and fire works on the 4th followed by a chuck wagon dinner and a dance on the 5th and finally a birthday party bar-b-que for their little ones on the 5th. The kids had a great time being around all those kids. They had also hired a couple of teenagers to help keep an eye on all the little ones so that made it nice for all the parents.

We set off a FEW fireworks here in the yard on the 3rd for the kidos. They loved that! Brad and I found ourselves in new territory when it came to buying fireworks. Being as Colorado is somewhat of a dry area (as most of you know) fireworks are frowned upon, especially living where we lived. So we have not bought any fireworks in a very long time. We did learn though that they have come up with a safer version of the sparkerler. Brad and I as well as the lady at the firework tent all had a good laugh remembering how dangerous those old ones were. You almost needed a fire suit to use them ;o) Now days they have a much longer wooden handle and the sparks are kept far from their faces.
This is about as exciting as Brad gets! At least he did play a little:o)

The picture down below was taken while we were at the neighbors house. As much as he liked going out and playing with the boys, the boys were not thrilled with having a 4 year old tag-a-long. So Jake found himself with the girls more then he would have liked. But as they say "When in Rome.." so that is exactly what our BOY did. When the night was over he had painted toe nails, finger nails and had purple eye shadow! The girls had a great time using him as a model. Brad called him a girl all day yesterday to at which Jake would respond he was NOT a girl. Brad would then ask him why if he wasn't a girl did he have painted toe nails. Jake would respond "because they painted them" now how can you argue with that?
