I figured while I was able I would do at least one more of these blogs before things really get crazy and school starts. I start on the 24th and the kids start on the 19th. I am not sure what Brad is going to do here all by himself a few days a week. What is that saying about absence making the heart grow fonder :o)

This is our little cardinal friend. I have never seen a bird more interested in what is going on in a house. He/she is always watching the kids through their bedroom window. We can walk right up to the window and all he does is calk his head from one side to the other. He even comes up and taps on the window at times, when there is clearly no bugs in sight. I think he likes to be the center of attention, I also think if we were to open the window we would have a new pet bird.

Kendra ended up with 2 purple ribbons (excellent) and one blue ribbon (above average). She enjoyed it and we all learned a few tricks and ideas for next year's fair.

Last weekend we all went fishing with one of the bosses and his family. Afterwards we bar-b-qued and visited for awhile. It was an enjoyable evening. Jayla caught two fish (one that you would actually consider a real fish) Jake caught 1 fish twice and Kendra caught one. After being poked by the first fish caught Jake decided he wanted nothing to do with them once they were out of the water so a lot of fun was had chasing him around with the other fish of the evening. Jayla sent half of the night minus one shoe because being as she is my daughter she had to find the mud that eats shoes. I was finally able to dig it out though if I would have had my way that shoe would have remained in the mud for all eternity, being as it was a flip flop that cost $1.00 and I had to dig through stinky mud for about 5 minutes. I tried to tell Brad that if he thought it was so important to have the $1 flip flop then maybe he should get it but of course he was busy being the big strapping man and drinking beer and handling the poles.

Since Jayla didn't want to touch the fish Brad thought she should give it a kiss in the way of apology :o)

This was Jake's fish, he caught it twice!

We are off to Sioux City this weekend for one final get away before reality hits. The kids are going to spend the night with some friends so Brad and I are on our own. Along with dinner with some friends school shopping is definitly on the to do list. Hopefully everyone is ready for the summer to be over, it has been such a mild summer that I can't say that I am but whether we want it or not it is on it's way out. So hopefully you all enjoyed it.
