Ditch Witch

There is just something about rhyming that makes even the most boring job sound fun. The ditch witch is a cool machine that chain saws through the earth and leaves a 5 1/2 foot deep trench.

The problem is this machine only travels about 50 feet per hour, and we need to cover about 3/4 a mile in this one pasture. We started out having Kendra on it because all you literally have to do is sit in the seat so the safety kill switch isn't triggered. Kendra was not fond of it though so her and I traded places and I ended up on the machine and she, along with Jayla and Jake, spread out the pipe. Brad walked behind them and glued the pieces together. It was quite the family event.

This past weekend the town of Lynch celebrated Alumni week. This is similar to Homecoming only on a much grander scale. They have a dinner that the Jr./Sr. high kids serve, a parade, scavenger hunt and many games. The kids had a good time enjoying all the festivities and the best part was, Jayla won a drawing for a new bike! She was super excited!

Along with alumni weekend we also had a "Brother's Weekend" With all four brothers coming up along with their mom and some of their friends. Brad was a very busy boy! At least the weather was decent.

We are fortunate enough that we get to head to Colorado in T minus 10 days and counting :) While Brad and I will only get a few days worth of visiting with friends and family we are looking forward to it. Most of our vacation will be spent in California, San Diego to be exact. We are headed there with two of my friends from high School, Shana and Tenneile, and their spouses. Brad asked me a few weeks ago if I thought it was strange to be taking a vacation with two people I had only seen a couple times in the last ten years. My response is that only a man would look at it that way though it is strange how the whole thing came about I have to admit. It all started when Shana facebooked Tenneile and I and told us about a dream she had had where we all spent a few months together in Vail and how much fun it was and how much fun it would be if we ever did get to spend some time together. Well that started a conversation that took us from Hawaii to Florida and finally to San Diego. All I really wanted to do was show Brad the ocean and let him experience it but by us going to San Diego we have built in tour guides since Shana used to live there so rest assured you fine citizens of California there will be no red necks on your highways ;o)

This is a picture from our latest Dinner Date put on by Jayla and Jake. Our dessert was inspired by the kids watching cupcake wars :o)
