Back to Reality...

It occurs to me that if we always got everything that we wanted then we would never truly appreciate anything. So with that in mind I am trying hard not be bummed that I am back in Nebraska rather then sitting on a beach somewhere :o) Our trip was wonderful. It was nice to spend time with old friends and introduce Brad to new places, namely the ocean. I have to admit that for Brad the ocean was the least exciting part of the whole vacation. It was very busy and Brad is not good with large crowds of people. Though having half of the "crowd" be bikini clad women did help in calming his nerves somewhat.

My favorite part of the trip was Sea World, and I will get to that in a minute but first I want to tell my funny Brad story. The first night we were there we decided to walk to our dinner destination. Our hotel was in the Gaslamp District which is a trendy downtown sort of area so there are plenty of restaurants and clubs. Our restaurant was quite a few blocks from the hotel and on our walk back we got to experience San Diego night life. We all started playing a game of sorts trying to guess whether the ladies we passed were, shall we say working girls, or just highly inappropriately dressed ladies. The sidewalks are so busy we couldn't walk side by side so I am in the front and Brad is walking behind me. As I am walking I notice a lady that seems to be a little old for the dress she is wearing. As I get closer I can tell there is something that is just not quite right with this particular club go'er. She has a very strong jaw and very well defined shoulder muscles...yup you guessed it, this particular lady was a dude. I slow down my walking and get to a section of the sidewalk where Brad and I can walk side by side and ask if he is doing ok. He responds "yea, I'm fine", to at which I respond "you didn't see that lady back there did you?" He asks me what lady and I describe her, "the older blond in the really short black dress" he says "yea I saw her what about her?" I ask if he noticed anything weird about her and he tells me that he noticed she was too old to be wearing a dress like that and I inform him in so many words that yes she is too old to wear a dress like that...she is also too male to be wearing a dress like that. Brad wigs out and responds "that lady was a guy!!!". About that time my friend Tenneile came over to us and asked if we seen the two guys in dresses, Brad goes "there were two?!". Still makes me laugh :o)

Sea World has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. I have always wanted to see dolphins and now I can say I have. I felt like a little kid most of the time. My friend Shana was laughing at me because I was constantly ohh'ing and awww'ing and dancing around in my seat. I sat next to Shana during the dolphin show and next to Tenneile for the whale show, I think they switched places just so both of them could laugh at me and my giddiness. It was hot and the top of my head got sun burned but it was so worth it!

We ended the trip with fireworks on the roof of our hotel. While there was another hotel that got in our way at times it was a great night. Brad actually thought that evening was the best of the trip. Leave it to my husband to proclaim his favorite part of San Diego as the one part that could have been accomplished anywhere :o)

We all had a great time and if us girls have anything to say about it this trip is going to become somewhat of an annual occurrence, well maybe a bi-annual occurrence. It was a trip full of memories and fun and I am very thankful we got the chance to experience it.
