Puddle Jumping

How do you know when you live where it rains a lot? When ducks mistake your puddles for ponds! These three Quakers were a little confused about where they should be, but who can blame them when many of our puddles can be a foot deep and quite a few feet across.

Well the school year has come to an end and the girls are very happy to be out. They were a little bummed though when they found out that mom had a new rule that only allows for 1 hour of T.V. during the day and 1/2 hour of computer time. For the first few days we had a lot of whining and crying, however, after some cleaning in the basement they started changing their tune. Funny how manual labor tends to make playing outside seem not so bad :o) After a few days in Colorado with only daddy in control we had a little bit of a de-programing that needed to be done but we are back on track now. Brad had all three kids by himself for four days! He actually did very well, other then the whole watching T.V. whenever they want and having nothing but pop to drink while they were at the house. Other then that he did wonderfully. He has even been better about helping with cooking in the last few days since I have been home! Part of the reason is because we have turned almost everything out on grass and when that happens I see a lot more of my husband.

The kids had a field day durng the last week of school and they had a great time. Jayla ended up with 2 or 3 first place ribbons and mulitiple 2nd, 3rd and 4th places ones. Kendra did well also while she did not have any first place ribbons she had quite a few 2nd and 3rd place ones. Part of the reason why could be that there are a lot more girls in Kendra's class then there are in Jayla's. In fact Jayla is the only girl in 1st grade and there are only a few in the other classes.

Jayla also went to a fish hatchery for her field trip. They had a good time and I enjoyed myself as well. Kelli was the bus driver and another lady I hang out with,Sherry,is one of the teachers so we got to do a lot of visiting.

Kendra also had her field trip though we did not go far for that one. We ended up at Kelli's house at the creek. Kelli and I came up with a treasure hunt complete with clues on how to find stuff for somore's. We came up with neat clues like "Cattle from yesterday that can no longer go astray have found themselves here to stay." Once they discovered that this clue led them to the bone yard then they got another clue. The kids had a blast! I would attach pictures but after Jayla's class play my camera disappeared. I figured either I misplaced it or someone took it, either way I did not get any photos...sorry guys.

This is Miss Kendra with her award winning drawing of ME! For Mother's day she entered a contest put on by the local newspaper and she won. She ended up with quite a prize package and even shared a lot of it with her siblings. She was even willing to take everyone out to McDonalds for ice cream with her gift certificates, such a sweet girl :o)

That's me in the middle. Dosen't the one on the left look like an alien?? They are actually bows in her hair :o) Kendra put a sun behind me, though she didn't know why. At least she didn't say something like "so you'll burn up" or anything like that. "You light up my life" would have been nice but unrealistic.

Finally I have news to tell everyone who believes that when you drive through the state of Nebraska there is no speed limit that need be followed...We may only have 5 cops in the whole damn state but one of them found me on the way back from CO. I wont complain though since he did cut me a break. I was going 76 in a 60, and he only ticketed me for doing 70 because once you get 15 or more over the speed limit bad things happen. Plus I still have my CO driver's licence (not willing to give that up as of yet) and he could have ticketed me for that if he wanted too but he didn't. So consider this your warning if you ever blow through this state...even NE cops have quotas :o)
