Well we made it back in one piece and this time we made it back without any speeding tickets! We had a busy but wonderful trip where we got to see a lot of people. When all was said and done we put 2100 miles on our car in one week!! This picture was taken while we waited to pick Brad up from the airport. The kids thought that it was pretty cool...Brad on the other hand did not! As most of you know Brad and large groups of people do not get along, therefore, Brad and DIA do not get along! The thing that was most upsetting to Brad was the fact that they require the removal of one's shoes. Brad doesn't even take off his boots here in the house let alone in a crowded airport. Then they had the nerve to tell him to remove his HAT! Boy were they just asking for it! He had at least known well enough not to take his pocket knife, which to a cowboy is like leaving home without his thumb :o) Other then the security check and all the people he did not do too bad. At one point I asked him if he would like to have a drink and he responded "at 10:00 in the morning!" Let me assure you if his flight would have been at 4:00 pm that boy would have found himself a very stiff drink! For those of you who did not know Brad went out to Idaho to visit a good friend of his, Frank
They use to work together in Colorado. Frank lives in a very interesting place... where their mail arrives via boat and sometimes their groceries do as well. They run a generator for their power and their phone is a radio phone that runs on batteries (if I am remembering everything correctly). Personally I don't think I could do it. Brad said that you would have to be
one tough cowboy to ride in some of the places that Frank does. He even has to take a horse to put out mineral because you can't drive (without rolling down the hill first) where he needs to go. Apparently some of the hills are very steep and rocky. Brad had a great time seeing new country and just visiting with an old friend. Brad is very fond of saying "if you will just shut up and listen to that man you could learn a lot". Thanks Frank and Vicki for letting him come hang out!
While Brad was in Idaho the kids spent a few days at Nanny Ellen's and Papo's. Grandma Nancy came up and spent a few nights as well, with her she brought some squirt guns that the kids used to attack Papo. But sometimes a Papo has to do what a Papo has to do and this Papo got the
Hose! There was a clear cut winner in that fight once all was said and done :o)
I spent a few nights in a hotel and some nights with family and did some shopping along the way, big surprise huh? We were able to get most of our school shopping done though which is a good thing. The Denver area has a lot more options for discount clothes then they do up here and I am all about the bargin!
One of the highlights of the trip (there were many) for the girls was the riding in Rob's RED convertible. Kendra always says that she wants a yellow Hummer and a red convertible...Now thanks to Rob she only Really wants the red convertible :o) I asked Rob how many years he had went to school and he replied 6 so I then turned to Kendra and told her that once she successfully completed 6 years of college then I could almost gaurantee her a red convertible,
s
he wasn't too impressed!
We also got to spend a day at the North Pole with most of the Froman family. Robby (Brad's brother) and Marline were there with their two little ones and Brad's cousin Diane drove all the way up to the Springs to hang out too. It was a fun day and all the kids had a great time. All the old people were pretty tired at the end of the day but we were happy. We ended the night by Bar-b-Q'ing at Mike and Ellen's house in Hugo. I took a lot of pictures of our time at the North Pole and they would not all fit in a regular Blog entry so I added the slide show down below to show everyone all those pictures.
Love to all!!
