And to think you all thought Home Depot was just a warehouse that took all your money!
I was so proud of Brad last Saturday. He was not exactly happy when I told him that we were going to Home Depot to do their monthly kid's activity, but he went along. Though when we first walked in and there were 10 other children all hammering away and being a little on the loud side he excused himself to go to the "restroom". Needless to say I thought I had seen the last of him. But he came back and actually jumped right in. One of the hardest things for him I think was the "letting them do it on their own" part. Brad is somewhat of a perfectionist when it
comes to this sort of thing so I had to remind him a couple of times that unless they ask for your
help, let them do it, and if they do ask for help only help on that one thing :o) As you can see though, he got pretty good at being an observer.
Brad laughed at me when I was amazed at how well Jake can hammer in a nail. Brad seems to think since Jake is his son then he will naturally be good at this sort of thing. I told him I was not questioning his "Manly expertise" but rather the fact that Jake is 5 years old and hits the nail more preciously then I do :o) In the end I think everyone, except Kendra, had a good time, including Brad. Kendra we decided was just a little too girly and cool to enjoy this baby activity :o) Her and Jayla had fun later that day though when just the girls headed to a scrape booking store and bought the store out.
I told each of the girls that they could do one page anyway they wanted. They could decorate it anyway, they could use any pictures that they wanted. The only "rule" was that they had to take their time and try and make it the best they could because we can use them as entries at the fair next year in the scrap booking section. Here is what they came up with, not too bad if I say so
myself. They ended up getting to do two pages each, being as mom had to
buy a scrapbook to keep their pages secure and since we had extra pages I figured what the heck, we'll play until Dad and Jake show up complaining that they are bored :o)
Not too hard to tell what Jayla's favorite things are is it??? These were the first ones that they did and their favorites.
Wow I have more pictures to share but I think they may have to wait for another time, I really should be studying, Midterms being this week and all :o) Maybe one more...from homecoming week, favorite animal day. Jayla was wanting to be a Dalmatian but everyone thought she was a cow :o) I can see why, it is just that if you know Scooty then you know why she does not own a WHITE shirt, so we had to go with black with white spots rather then white with black spots.
Plus I had to add food day where Kendra dressed up as grapes and Jake was an apple. Jayla was also going to be an apple but did not want to wear a hat all day so she opted out of "food day".
