Life back to normal

We are finally getting back into the swing of things, after an extended holiday break and freezing temperatures. There were a few morning when the temperature was -25 degrees, you add in a windchill and we are talking about miserable working conditions, not for me mind you being as I hardly left the house, but for Brad.

With a nice white blanket covering everything we have had our share of wildlife come through the yard. They just can't seem to help themselves since we have plenty of hay and Wet Distillers Grain (WDG) available. We came home one night last week and were shocked to see over 40 head of mule deer roaming around the stackyard. We are used to seeing that many turkeys running around, the deer were a little new though. The next morning we found these two antlers out in the area of the "buffet". The small one is from what we would fondly call a baby buck but the one that Kendra found is quite a bit larger.

Classes started for me this week and I have high hopes for the semester. I am going to need to do a lot of observation this semester which does not thrill me but I need 100 hours before I can student teach. Since I am an early childhood unified major all my hours seem to be in a daycare/preschool setting and I don't feel as if I am learning anything there. Being as I have worked in a preschool and have three of my own kids I kind of have a "been there done that" mentality. Plus I am not a huge fan of daycare and find myself cringing at the way some things are done. Oh well, if anything I am being taught what not to do.

Brad plus a disposable camera equals not the best pictures. Here is one from their trip to the NFR. It didn't help that they were up in the rafters either. The camera holds 24 pictures but only 12 were clear enough to be developed. I think Brad ought to stick with his day job, photography is not in his future.

This is picture Kendra took while her and dad opened up the road a few weeks ago. You can see that there is a large drift followed by a bare piece of ground.
