There is a report from some folks that live about 2 miles from us and they received 8.10 inches, personally I think we were somewhere in this range as well. It rained hard for 5 continuous hours and before that we had what our Colorado friends would call a nice rain storm for 2 hours or so. When you have that much rain in one night bad things happen to your driveway, this is one of the three holes that formed thanks to rushing water.
Here is another hole we had to deal with. Poor Brad had to work hard to find some kind of dirt to place in these holes so that we could get a vehicle (other then the 4-wheeler) out of our drive. Kendra and Jayla have some friends from Colorado that got here this evening and we could not get out to go have supper with them. Fortunately they are going to be here all day tomorrow so the girls will still get to spend some time together.
The above picture shows how the water flowed down the hill. You can see how wide a track it made and you can see a dead cedar tree that Brad had cut previously about 100 yards up the hill.
Along with all this rain we have still been trying to work on the addition. I need all of you to do me a favor, the next time you ever hear me say "Oh, I've done that before...I can do that." somebody slap me! Please!! I volunteered to do the tapping and mudding of the new walls because after all I had done it before, right??? I have since come to realize that dad only had me do the easy, straight seams and screw holes. I never had to deal with the corners and man let me tell you the corners are a nightmare!! Brad was going to help me mud and only did 12 inches because he said he couldn't deal with it, "I can't do that, that will drive me crazy!" so I was on my own again. It is coming along, I guess :o) The closet is mostly done, just need to sand the final coat and we have started on the main wall. The above mudded picture is our new closet (yea me!!) and the picture to the right will be my desk area after we finish putting up the drywall that is.
I had to include this picture because very seldom does Brad just sit down and read for the pure joy of reading. In fact Jake made the comment that he has never seen dad read a book. He has seen him read ranch magazines and newspapers but not a book. Brad really enjoys this author and thanks to Amazon I am able to find him at a reasonable price :o)
Well I think that is enough info for a week or so. We are headed back to Colorado at the end of the month for a couple of days, mainly for my high school reunion. It will be a fast and furious trip but I have no doubt we will love every minute. Love to all, Good night!
