You know when you start seeing pictures like these then we must be calving.  The kids have three bottle calves they are feeding right now.  Two had the misfortune of having mamas that just don't care and one is a twin.  We have had two sets of twins so far this year.  The other set is still being cared for by their mother, she claimed both of them which is a rare thing.
This little calf was the original.  At first Jake named it Bell (for Bella in the Twilight movies who he finds "hot", as if he knows what that really means).  Later when he was told that Bell was a boy he decided he would call him Bear.  So this is Bear and he is by far the kid's favorite.
The other day Kendra and I got home and Bear was out of the pens.  I asked Kendra if she knew what calf that was and she told me, yea it's bear.  I asked her if she was sure and she responded that she was sure being as they have been feeding him the last week but that she would call him and check.  She then got out of the car and started calling "BEAR...come here buddy"  and banged two bottles together and sure enough here he came running right for her just like a dog would.  Jake wants to show him for 4H this year but we will have to see how things go.
This is Brad's "new" pick-up.  Only we would sell off our 98' and turn around and buy a 93'.  But this one has less miles, is bigger and has the 7.3L Diesel motor in it, not that that I know why that is such a big deal but according to Brad it is.  Apparently the 7.3L is the much sought after diesel motor and he has always wanted one.  Now that I am working he finally got one...let's not focus on the fact that it is almost 20 years old.  I look at it like "it was brand new when I was in high school and since that wasn't THAT long ago it not too bad, right???
The weather has just been gorgeous.  Tonight we spent a little bit of time out doors and Brad gave Kendra a roping lesson.  Don't know how much she learned but she did tell me that she wanted a rope for Christmas now.
Cheese ball Jayla surprised me by having the mud room completely cleaned when I got back from town where I had to go to buy a new tire.  They had been warned that that was our big weekend project this weekend.  She took it upon herself to get it done.  Put me in an awesome mood!
For some reason Jake feels that shirts are over rated right now and spends most of his time without one.  He thinks he's tough.
The following pictures come with a story.  Brad asked Jayla to stand still in front of Kendra so she could practice throwing her rope.  Jayla wouldn't stand still and Brad told her to stop moving.  Jayla told him that that wasn't very realistic.  Cows don't stand in front of you and yell "rope me, rope me, rope me).  So Brad decided that he would do as she said and "rope her".  She took off running and Brad took off after her.
He finally caught her and brought her back in typical Brad fashion.

Jake was "branding" her and Kendra was trying to wrestle her to the ground I assume.  They were all having a very good time, as you can tell.
This is Mike Wilcoxson, Brad's saving grace this year.  I find it funny how men always make fun of girls and their little girlie friendships of shopping and chit chatting.  Let me tell you, men do it too.  They may not go shopping but the chit chatting is alive and running.  Brad is really enjoying having another man around.  Though he would never admit it.  I am glad for him as well.  When we left Eagle's Nest that was one thing that worried me, the fact that he would be on his own 100% of the time.  I know his thoughts on it were that he could care less, he had had enough of people.  But saying it and living it can be two different things.  Brad is more of a solitary type of guy so if he has to pick between working with 10 guys or working by himself he would pick by himself every time.  There are a few guys he really enjoys working and visiting with though and Mike is one of those guys.  I am so glad that everything worked out so that Mike come here for a few months.
