Ahhh, the life of a Ranch Wife!

Well Goodmorning to you all. I know it has been sometime since my last entry and I apologize. Things have been a little busy in the last few weeks. Well when I last left off we were headed to Omaha and then to Wiggins. When all was said and done we put over 1400 miles on our pick-up in 3 1/2 days! The kids did really well and it wasn't too bad actually, it helps that we have the T.V. I can't imagine (or maybe it is just that I don't want too) what the trip would have been like without it. We had a nice time though visiting with friends and family. The rodeo was very nice as well. The stock show has been the only rodeo I have been to for the past few years and while the showmanship part is second to none the stock is not too good. So this was nice to see some real rodoeing going on. The concert afterwards was LOUD... or maybe we are just OLD. Either way Brad and I were deaf at the end of the night. We never got lost though and I was a little worried. I haven't been driving in a real city in a long time so I was imagining all sorts of bad accidents due to my redneck driving skills, but we made it just fine.

We weaned here on Saturday and this is where things get interesting. For all those who have known me forever then you already know this, for those of you who have only known me for awhile then I must tell you, I have always had a soft spot for "cowboys". I was like every other young, dumb teenage girl in that "Wrangler Butts drive me Nuts" stage. Cowboys were the dream guys, they were prince charming with a horse! They always looked so good and smelled so nice and they would never think if yelling at you or laughing at you, Right? Speed ahead 15 years and they are not so cute, they deffinitly don't smell as nice and they will without a doubt laugh at you if you fall in that oh so fresh "mud". As I mentioned we weaned on Saturday, what I did not mention was that we got 1 1/2 inches of rain Friday night! Our corrals were ever so nice. That was not too big of a problem as far as I went though, my problems started on Sunday. After another 3/10 inches rain Saturday night about 30 head got out. One of the brothers had been feeding when his young son, who was incharge of the gate, just got overwhelmed. So as he jumped on the four-wheeler to go and get the 4-5 that got out first the other 25 decided that was a good time to make their daring escape. All I can say is that I am really glad I was not the one left in charge of the gate, that poor boy had a BAD day. Well after about an hour and a half we had them all back where they belonged. I was covered in stuff and not smelling the best. Go forward to Monday morning after ANOTHER 1/2 inch rain, and no I am not bragging you are welcome to have some of it. Brad and I headed out to feed and I am in only my old sneakers. I still don't have a pair of mud boots, I am going to take Brad's old pair and he is getting a new pair of Bog Boots they are just not here yet, they will probably be here tomorrow knowing my luck :o) So I am out in the pens in "mud" up to my shin (no lying here) with nothing but Sneakers! Walking takes on a whole new meaning when you are trying to not only not fall on your face but you are trying to keep your shoes on as well. For those of you who are thinking about the mud you have and how it is not that bad you need to come up here and experience our mud. The closest I can compare it to is River Mud, you know that really slimy, squishy clay mud? That is our mud! Well after walking around in this for a while, We use the tractor for the hay but for the first few days we put on a sweet feed to help get them eating and for that we had to walk along the bunks and pour it over the hay, I am covered in what we have up till now been calling "mud" and I prefer to contnue using this term if you don't mind it makes me feel better knowing how much of it ended up hitting me in the face. As I am balancing a bag of feed I loose my footing and FALL, that's right I FALL in that "mud" my husband First chuckles and then says are you alright? I said I am fine but I did not sign on for this! He starts laughing at me and tells me that I did when I married a cowboy. So this brings me back to my earlier statement, Cowboys are not all they appear to be. They should come with some kind of warning like...WARNING marrying a wrangler butt may find you later in life covered in Muck! :o)

Sunrise at Eagle's Nest, Thanks Jane!

All in all I have been having a blast. Jake has been going with us every morning and he is full of advise. This morning he kept yelling from the pick-up "frrrrrreh wwwhheeeeeeetttt (for those of you with out little ones that is the sound of a whistle, you know that game day whistle) When I finally came over to him to see what was sooo important he told me that I needed to shut the gate or the cows would get out and dad would be mad. I told him they were fine and he argued with me...little turkey I wonder where he gets that from?

The girls are doing homecoming week this week and went to school with "big hair". It was so funny this morning, Jayla was watching T.V. waiting for her turn to have her hair done. The last time she had looked at Kendra was when I was just putting pony tails in her hair. After a few minutes she looked back over at us and her eyes just about popped out of her head and she started laughing. Kendra and I started laughing mainly from the look of amazment on her face. Their hair was pretty high if I do say so myself. I would have taken pictures but I once again have messed up with the camera, this time I have left it with my sister. I will have it back soon I am sure so in the mean time enjoy these pictures taken from either on.
