Good morning to all...or if you are late day readers Good Afternoon :o) Things here are going about the same, busy. It always seems like for the first 4-5 months of the year we are so busy. We have our first branding on the 12th of this month but that will be a small one that consists of only family and close friends. We will be branding the first calf heifers' calves then. This branding will be more for the kids then anything. This is the branding where you can take time and show the kids how to do things and let them run the show. The girls are so excited! We will have our "big" branding on the 26th and during that one the kids will hear a lot of "not now's" and "you need to go play". I will try to take pictures as much as I can. I am doing the lunches so I am not making any promises :o) The day after they brand Brad is turning all the cows out and then his life becomes a cake walk and my days of being the "hired"hand become very limited.
We took Jake back to Yankton yesterday and he got his "real" cast put on. On our wa
y up to the Dr. I told Jake that he would get to get a colored cast and he instantly said I want red! Not sure why he chose red but at least he didn't say pink. Can you imagine daddy's reaction if I were to bring home his boy with a flaming neon pink cast?! Almost wish Jake would have picked that color...just to see the look on Brad's face :o)
Here
are some pictures from our bowling outing. Brad ended up going with us only to leave us after the pizza to go to the bar with a friend of his. Not that I blame him...I could have used a very stiff drink after that night. One of our little ones takes a "Chill Pill" everyday and I think it was clear that they had went without! By the end of the night I was seriously reconsidering my career goal as a teacher. I am also use to my kidos, when I tell them to do something they usually do it. Heather calls me "Mama D" which stands for mama dictator and she is right. For the most part it is my way or the highway. If I tell you to stop then guess what? I mean STOP now... not "in a minute". I had an ongoing argument with one about clearing their plate. I don't think it is too hard to pick-up your plate and put it on the counter, especially when it is a paper plate and all you have to do is throw it away! It took over 4 hours to finally get o
ne of the plates into the trash. About every 15 minutes or so I would again say "I need you to clear your plate and throw it away please" usually I was ignored, sometimes I was told "I will". Kendra came up to me and said "I'm sorry mom, I'll get it" I told her it wasn't her and that she didn't need to worry about it and that there was only one way that plate was getting into the trash and that was by the owner of the plate. I guess my true feelings were showing on my face a little more then I thought they were. It wasn't all bad though. The kids had a great time and I was reminded to be thankful for my own kids ;o)
I had to shake my head at the fact that we were out bowling and a lot of the time all these three wanted to do was play gameboy, something we could have done at home...for a lot cheapier I might add!
They all enjoyed themselves though and we had a night out at the big 'ol Eagle Lanes. It is a four lane bowling alley so what you see is what you get. I swear that all there is to do here is go bowling or g
o to the bar. High School bowling is big here, they even have a state championship much like state basketball or wrestling. I am thankful though that we live in a town that not only has the bowling alley but also has the theatre as well. It does allow us to get out and about and
meet people and do things.
The bowling alley does have homemade pizza for a reasonable price so that is nice when you feel like pizza. I had to laugh that all the tables were full by the end of the night because all the "coffee dri
nkers" had arrived. Much like a cafe in the morning all the older residence go out and gather at the bowling alley and drink coffee until it closes and then they head home. We offered an awful lot of entertainment for the evening!
Well I have more pictures from when we were in Colorado but those will have to wait because my boss is going to come in in a minute and demand to know if I have finished with his tags or not. Then he is going to demand that I get my mud boots on and "come help me a minute" which will turn into an hour or two and then the girls will be home so as you can see I am out of time :o) Actually I knew that I was going to be needed today since we are working some heifers that Jeff bought to put out on grass. I may take my camera and get a few rare pictures of colored cattle on this ranch. If it is not black here then they don't own it. Jeff is the rebel though and he bought 43 red, white and black heifers. It is kind of nice to see a little color again. Love to all!
